Cigar News: Crowned Heads Releasing Las Calaveras 2022 Cigars
2022 Release Stars a Nicaraguan Corojo Oscuro ’99 Wrapper
NASHVILLE, TN – Crowned Heads Cigars has just announced the highly anticipated release of their annual Las Calaveras cigars. Las Calaveras EL 2022 is the ninth edition of the series and this year’s installment includes a first—the use of a Nicaraguan Corojo Oscuro ’99 wrapper. This is the second year in a row that Crowned Heads has introduced a new wrapper for the line. (The Las Calaveras EL 2021 selection used an Ecuador-grown Sumatra wrapper.) At the core of the 2022 are Nicaraguan binder and filler.
According to Crowned Heads co-founder, Jon Huber, the Corojo Oscuro wrapper issues “a flavor profile that is reminiscent of the signature My Father style of delivering classic Nicaraguan structure and intensity while retaining complexity and balance.”
Since the Las Calaveras series was introduced in 2014 it has served as a tribute to those who have passed-away the previous year in a celebration of life and remembrance. Each annual release contains the initials of four individuals embossed on each of the four coins located on the sides of each band. Additionally, the puros are presented in boxes of 24 cigars divided into three rows of eight – “8” being a number that symbolizes infinity and everlasting life. Additionally, the top, middle, and bottom rows represent the beginning, middle, and last periods of life, respectively.
Blended and produced at My Father Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua, the series features three vitolas:
LC46 – 5¾”x46
LC52 – 5”x52
LC54 – 6½”x54
A total of 1,500 boxes in each size will ship to retail beginning in late July. Also shipping will be 2,500 special 4-pack samplers that also include an exclusive 6½”x40 Petit Lancero. The cigars will range in MSRP from $11.95 to $13.95 per-cigar. CA
