CA Report: Top New Cigars – Dec. 15 2017

Cigar Advisor Picks: Top New Cigars (Dec 15, 2017)

By Fred Lunt

Holy Holidays! It’s the Christmas Craziness Edition of CA’s Top New Cigars. That’s right, I’m back again to bring you the latest fine premium cigars to cure those holiday headaches. We cranked up the coffee and gassed up the forklift to get these cigars in-stock and ready to be shipped to your door – lickety-split.

This week is a special week. Just crossing our desks now are the most recent new cigars from AJ Fernandez, some bang-around smokes for last-minute shopping and something with a little extra oomph to help you endure those long dinners with the in-laws. Check ‘em out!

New World Puro Especial by AJ Fernandez

It’s time to don the ugly sweater, kick back a few cocktails and enjoy that holiday party in style. What better way than the AJ way? New World Puro Especial is a welcomed medium-bodied edition to the New World lineup that uses only tobaccos grown from AJ’s various farms in Nicaragua. Get ready to double down on flavor with a filler and binder combo of 3-5 year aged long fillers stuffed into a perfectly aged ’98 Criollo wrapper. Well-balanced and rich, expect complex notes of leather, nuts, and sweetness.

Olor Nicaragua by Perdomo Cigars

Editors Note: This product is no longer available

Was Secret Santa a bust? Well get yourself something nice instead…say, Perdomo’s re-worked Olor Nicaragua lineup, for instance. You can never go wrong with a Perdomo stick and these Olors are straight-up delicious with your choice of a tangy hybrid Sun Grown wrapper, an Ecuadorian Connecticut version, or Nick’s renowned barrel-aged Maduro wrapper over an aged, all-Nicaraguan blend of filler and binder leaves. Each as flavorful and complex as the last, treat-yo-self!

Villiger La Flor de Ynclan

Is roast beast and Who Hash revving your engine? Add a little extra spark to the Christmas Eve dinner with an extra nice premium from Villiger. La Flor de Ynclan is a complex smoke that drives notes of white pepper, oak, earth, dried fruit and spices. While Villiger recommends pairing with Zafra 21 year aged dark rum, you’ll find this cigar pairs well with just about anything you throw at it, medium in strength but full in flavor – Ho ho ho!

Bombardier

Malls, shops, and outlets all have one thing in common around Christmas: stress out the wazoo. Cue Bombardier for some stress-relieving fun. Liven up that last-minute gift buying with some full-flavored, mild-medium bodied Dominican cigars. Super budget friendly, Bombardier is a hefty 70 ring gauge premium available in Ecuadorian Connecticut or Maduro wrapper…because double the options = double the pleasure!

Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte

Yep, holiday dinners are coming which means it’s time to face the in-laws for 1.5 hours of dirty looks and “suggestions” (criticisms). You’ll need a stiff drink and a strong cigar to alleviate the searing pain in your soul. Thank sweet baby Jesus for the Partagas 1845 Extra Fuerte! Fuerte, meaning strong, is a revamped premium that comes in a savory blend of Dominican Cuban-seed and Nicaraguan long fillers, a Connecticut Habano binder, and finished off in a hearty Habano Ligero wrapper. Full-bodied and bursting at the seams with earthy notes of leather and citrus.

That’s it folks! Stay tuned – I still have some great new cigars up my sleeve, and we’ll talk about them in our last report of 2017!
