CA Report: Top New Cigars (June 13, 2022)

The New Cigars You Need to Know About in the Famous Smoke Shop Humidor:

…and a side of Random Cigar Thoughts.

Is there such a thing as having too many cigars on hand? Asking for a friend.

Sometimes I feel like some sort of a sommelier, trying to match the right cigar to my mood, environment, or occasion. I’ve mainly solved this problem by sorting my cigars into two categories: every day and special occasions. That gives me a basic idea which humidor to begin searching.

We’ve all had cigars that made us question everything. Like, it was so good it stopped making sense—so much so you question whether there’s some sort of magic at play. These are the premium cigars I sort into my special occasion humidor. The blends that transcend my normal cigar experience and befit a birthday, wedding, anniversary, or holiday. Certain occasions inevitably call for a little something more, something like the premium, limited-edition blends from Davidoff, Crowned Heads, and Cohiba highlighted in this ‘treat yourself’ edition of Top New Cigars.

Have you enjoyed a great new cigar that you think should be on our must-smoke list? We’d love to hear from you! Please give us the details in the comments below!

Davidoff Limited Edition 2022

Wrapper: Ecuador
Binder: Brazil Seco
Filler: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Brazil

Davidoff cigars are often considered to be in a category of their own and symbolize the pinnacle of luxury premium handmades. Released annually and in very limited quantities, the 2022 version of the Limited Edition features the best of Davidoff’s watershed, first class tobaccos. This delectable blend begins with a flawless, oily, Ecuador wrapper over a Brazilian Seco binder and long fillers from Brazil, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic. You’ll notice a hint of sweetness at the open before the classic Davidoff profile of earth, hay, and cedar begins to take shape along with notes of coffee and nuts. The Davidoff LE 2022 is complex, balanced, and a cigar worthy of any occasion, monumental or otherwise.

Crowned Heads Four Kicks Mule Kick Limited Edition 2022

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Oscuro
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Crowned Heads is one of the most-loved boutique cigar brands in recent memory, and their limited-edition releases—like this Four Kicks Mule Kick 2022—are coveted and collected by legions of enthusiasts. Featuring a dark, oily, and toothy San Andres wrapper over a Nicaraguan long filler blend, this Crowned Heads is anything but boring. The many rich flavors—including dark chocolate, citrus, black pepper, earth, nuts, and cedar—are layered and remain in perfect balance. Complex and with flawless construction, the Four Kicks Mule Kick Limited Edition 2022 is an ideal choice when you want a memorable cigar.

Cohiba Serie M Limited Edition

Wrapper: Nicaragua Corojo
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Dominican Republic, Nicaragua

The first Cohiba to be rolled in the United States, the Serie M Limited Edition is crafted at the family-owned and boutique El Titan de Bronze factory in Little Havana section of Miami. Not only that, but the dazzling Serie M is the first Cohiba to use a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper. With nearly invisible seams, a closed foot, and an expertly applied fantail cap, just a glance will show you this Miami-made gem is not a run of the mill cigar. You’ll experience notes of almond, caramel, leather, with some light black pepper, and espresso with cedar on the finish. Cohiba Serie M is a cigar best reserved for when you’re seeking a luxury experience—whether you’re balling in the back yard or black tie.
