Top New Cigars (March 6, 2023)

Feeling Lucky? Grab one of these Top New Cigars in time for St. Paddy’s Day!

Discovering a great blend is a little like the luck o’ the Irish. That’s why Top New Cigars does the gambling for you! I smoke ‘em all so you don’t have to.

Furthermore, TNC covers the latest cigar releases bi-weekly, highlighting three of my favorite picks. This week’s list drops just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. Along with your day drinking, add these fresh sticks from Alec Bradley, Rocky Patel, and Warped Cigars.

Just remember, folks. Drink responsibly and smoke the best. At least I can help you with the latter!

Which cigars will you be smoking on St. Paddy’s Day? Let us know in the comments below!

Alec Bradley Black Market Shamrock

Wrapper: Candela/Nicaragua Habano/Nicaragua Habano Madur
Binder: Indonesia
Filler: Nicaragua & Dominican Republic

The annual re-release of Alec Bradley Black Market Shamrock has arrived! This triple-wrapped barperpole cigar remains a St Pat’s staple—easily one of the top sellers ahead of the holiday. Expect a hearty dose of zest in a smoke that’s equal parts sweet. Probably goes without saying that it’s great with a Guinness. Hell, Shamrock goes great with anything. Problem is, it only releases once per year. Not exactly a problem for you if you get in early. Wait too long and the only green you’ll have is envy. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Rocky Patel DBS

Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés Maduro
Binder: Pennsylvania Broadleaf
Filler: Honduras with Nicaragua Broadleaf

While this Rocky Patel sounds like something out of the Aston Martin factory, DBS just means ‘Double Broadleaf Selection.’ And you’ll find that Broadleaf in both the binder and filler tobaccos. Flavor-ally speaking, I found spicy notes of espresso and chocolate over a base of sweet earth and pepper. To say it’s indulgent is an understatement. What DBS is: one of Rocky’s best cigars in a long time. If it’s this good sober, imagine how good it’ll be when you’re already a 6-pack deep at 11:30 a.m. That’s the St Pat’s way.

Punch Spring Roll

Wrapper: Ecuador Sumatra
Binder: U.S. Broadleaf
Filler: Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, &. U.S.

While you’re busy planning for your Day of the Bender, Punch has unveiled ‘Year of the Rabbit’ to celebrate Chinese New Year. Punch Spring Roll is the 5th entry alongside Egg Roll, Chop Suey, and others—all with Chinese takeout-style themes. These limited-edition cigars always go fast and most of the previous releases have completely sold out. I find Spring Roll’s flavor to be savory and sweet, with notes of butter, earth, and almonds. And with a name like that, it’s a shoo-in to get smoking season…rolling!
