Top New Cigars (September 18, 2023)

Reading Time: 3 minutes

THE LATEST CIGARS FROM ESPINOSA, WARPED, & BLACK LABEL TRADING CO. ARE HERE!

If September has you thinking about pumpkin spice, sweaters, and raking leaves, you’re doing it wrong! There’s still plenty of summer left. And these three new cigars should serve as a stark reminder that there are plenty of good times left to be had.

This week, we’re smoking fresh blends that honor both Espinosa and Black Label’s decade milestones—plus—celebrate Cuba’s golden age of cigars with a Warped stick paying tribute to Havana. See their flavor and smoking experience so you can decide if they’re the right cigars for you!

As always, be sure to toss a comment into the fire if there’s a new cigar you think is worth talking about!

Espinosa 10 Years Anniversary

Wrapper:  Ecuador Habano Hybrid
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Has it only been 10 years? Seems like Espinosa has been around forever, and on top of that, has already eclipsed the boutique market as a nationally-recognized brand. Impressive for such a short period. To mark the occasion, the company released Espinosa 10 Years Anniversary, a Nicaraguan puro at heart, but with a feisty Brazilian wrapper. The blend’s flavor runs on the tangier side with notes of citrus zest, toast, coffee drizzled with baking chocolate, and a peppery finish…thanks to the talented craftsmanship of the torcedors in AJ Fernandez’ San Lotano factory. Espinosa’s calling these sticks ‘throwbacks’ to the company’s origins. I’m just calling ‘em delicious.

Warped Bits of Havana Seleccion de Capital

Wrapper: Mexican San Andres
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua

Kyle Gellis has been busy as of late, blending hit cigar after hit cigar. Sadly, most of them are limited editions that exit as quickly as they entered. The bad news: Warped Bits of Havana is another one of those short runs. The good news: it’s here right now and damn if it ain’t great! Baking spices mix with a toffee-like sweetness and peppers with well-executed balance. It’s a strong cigar for sure, but it won’t leave your palms sweaty. I’d give the stick a fair amount of consideration to grab now—only 500 boxes were made. Nothing better than enjoying them now and not missing out!

La Madonna Negra by Black Label Trading Company

Wrapper: Connecticut Broadleaf
Binder: Ecuador Habano
Filler:
Nicaragua & Pennsylvania Broadleaf

While our favorite outlaw cigarmakers aren’t the biggest name in premium smoking, Black Label makes up for in flavor what they lack in name recognition. BLTC—like their brethren at Espinosa—is celebrating their own decade milestone with a cigar: La Madonna Negra. Only 900 boxes were produced (300 of each size) so your time to decide is certainly a factor. If sticks that burn with flavors of oak, toast, and savory spices are your kind of thing, then I’d as soon pull the trigger. They won’t be around forever!
