Where it’s at: The Camacho Scorpion Sun Grown Robusto gets off to an earthy and slightly peppery start, quickly rounding out to a creamy and chewy mix of nuts and sweet spices. Oaky notes follow in the first stage and ride on a layer of sweet spices, like nutmeg and cinnamon. Moving into the second act, I picked up some herbal & floral notes that reminded me of fresh cut roses and lavender – similar to what you find in some of the better Cuban cigars. (Add-in the creaminess of the Scorpion, and it could almost pass for a Cuban.)

By the midsection, the cigar was burning perfectly revealing a firm, grey, conical ash that drops-off in half-inch nuggets (your mileage may vary). The retrohale was surprisingly mild with only a hint of pepper. Some earthiness returns in the final act, but oak, nuts, and sweet spices squeak through making-up most of this cigar’s flavor profile.

Suffice it to say. . . the Scorpion Sun Grown Robusto presents a rich, creamy, and well-balanced smoke with enough complexity to keep you immersed. Moreover, it can be enjoyed morning, noon, or night, and I’m certain it will satisfy cigar smokers at every experience level.

FYI: The Camacho Scorpion Sun Grown was also included in Cigar Advisor’s Best 25 Cigars of 2018 report.
