Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana Backstory

Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana isn’t necessarily a new blend on the block—rather it’s the revival of a Nat Sherman favorite. The Panamericana was originally released in 2014 and was only available at the Nat Sherman Townhouse retail store in Manhattan (NY). The following year saw the cigar released as a T.A.A (Tobacconists’ Association of America) exclusive to a small group of retailers.

Fast forward to the present, and Nat Sherman cigars and pipe tobaccos no longer exist. However, the cigar segment of Nat Sherman was purchased by former executives Michael Herklots and Brendon Scott and resurrected through their new company, Ferio Tego.

Is Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana the mirror image—it’s made at the same factory and utilizes the same blend—as the previous Nat Sherman incarnation?

It’s time to put the Timeless Panamericana through its paces and find out.

The Basics:

Construction: Wrapper was oily and medium brown—like worn leather. Well packed, no soft spots, with tight seams and a perfectly tapered head.
Cold Draw: A pinch of pepper, cedar, and an almond-like sweetness.
Base flavors: Warm baking spice, almond, bittersweet fruit.
Aroma: Tobacco and light floral.
Burn & Ash: No issues.

Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana Review – Part 1

Once lit, the Panamericana provides a dusting of pepper before moving on to flavors of cedar with some cinnamon and nutmeg. A bittersweet fruit note enters—almost like black cherries—along with what can best be described as rich cappuccino. The cedar slips to the background while nuts enter the mix. So far, the Panamericana strikes me as medium-plus, inching towards full-bodied.

Let’s see if this continues into the second third.

Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana Review – Part 2

At about the halfway point of the Timeless Panamericana, it transitions into a refined full-bodied cigar. The profile doesn’t change much in the way of new flavors, rather some notes like the creaminess and sweetness of the cappuccino become more dominant while the fruit fades into the background with the pepper. The construction and draw are perfect, and the cigar remains elegant and rich. The balance is on-point and, so far, this blend has delivered as promised.

Let’s see how it wraps up in the finale.

Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana Review – Part 3

I didn’t want the Timeless Panamericana to end. As a fan of full-bodied cigars, I was impressed with how smooth and easy this blend smoked. What I mean by that is, this blend doesn’t seek to awe you with its power, and it won’t wreck your palate for the rest of the day. Moreover, Timeless Panamericana—especially now, in the last third—really comes alive when you allow the cigar to rest a little longer between draws (about 90 seconds to 2 minutes will suffice).

What beverage pairs well with Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana cigars?

You can’t go wrong with having a cigar along with a healthy pour of whiskey or bourbon. A citrus forward IPA is a good option if you’re wanting a beer and I’ve found that Dr. Pepper—as a non-alcoholic choice—pairs well with pretty much any cigar.

Are Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana cigars worth smoking?

This cigar is an obvious must-buy for fans of the old Nat Sherman Panamericana. Beyond that, I’d put this Ferio Tego into the must-try category for a medium-bodied smoker looking to try something with a little more oomph, or for enthusiasts seeking out an elegant, well-crafted, full-bodied blend. Not an everyday blend or yardgar—Ferio Tego Timeless Panamericana is what you want to reach for when looking for a memorable experience.
