Robert Caldwell claims that he started a cigar company when he realized there was nothing else he could do with his life. He focused on perfection, and on showing the world how his purpose became the making of Caldwell cigars; and it hasn't gone unnoticed. In a live online chat interview, Caldwell talked about the things that inspire him on a daily basis. "I see things all the time that inspire me. Any type of good marketing or branding you just take from things around you. I just use catchy things I've seen over the years. I keep a brand book with over 100 names and brands that I add to. If I hear a catchy song or idea, I build a concept around it and that's how a brand comes to life. Even other cigar companies call me asking for help with concepts. It's a real hobby of mine; I love brainstorming on new brands and concepts."

Famous Smoke Shop features several of Caldwell cigars finest blends. He only uses all grade-A tobaccos in his small-batch blended cigars as he searches the world for the finest and most exotic leaf. Eastern Standard is a medium bodied stick with a complex mix of premium aged tobaccos such as Corojo Ligero, Nicaraguan Habano and Dominican Criollo '98 Viso fillers and a Dominican Habano binder.
