Description
Zoom in on the Toro (6×54) version of Black Dragon, for a good look at a Maduro with plenty of built-in intensity.
Start with pulling it from the cello: first thing you’re greeted with is a dark, oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Toothy and full of promise – and a lot of natural oils – this wrapper makes a rich statement. On the inside, it’s a Dominican binder and the carefully balanced trio of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian long fillers, with the less-common Peruvian tobaccos adding character found only in a few other great cigars.
The Gurkha Black Dragon Toro starts you off with deep espresso tones, a dusting of dark chocolate, and a warming sensation of leather. But the fun doesn’t stop there: as the smoke builds, so do the spicy, earthy undertones. Lots of dimension, plenty of Maduro intrigue, and yes – that Gurkha aura.
This Toro sits in that delicious medium-to-full range, just one of the reasons the Black Dragon has earned its legions of fans. The blend has plenty of character – and while it’s got power and plenty of backbone for the guys who gobble up the heavy stuff, it’s still very approachable for newer smokers looking for a flavorful boost up in strength. The Toro size affords the Black Dragon plenty of room to evolve, letting each portion a new angle of flavor while remaining anchored in boldness. It’s a cigar that looks fierce, smokes smooth, and leaves an impression in the best way possible.
We highly recommend smoking this while you enjoy a strong coffee or similarly potent adult beverage. Great after dinner, or when there’s time to unwind and let the Black Dragon develop to its fullest potential.
