Dark, oily, toothy wrapper with a few veins. Draw started slightly firm, but not uncomfortably so, and it opened up fairly quickly. Began with a sort of burnt cocoa flavor. Shifted toward a deeper woody flavor like oak. This was the main flavor throughout, staying pretty consistent. Smoke got a little hot in the final third with a nuttiness coming in. Perfect burn and ash. Flavor and strength were medium.
I found this smoke locally- right off the delivery truck. I m a big fan of the RP Vintage line so I thought this should be good! The stick was beautiful to look at, foot was a bit rough but appearance-wise it was definitely RP. The wrapper started coming undone at the head after cutting. Not a huge deal as it happens sometimes, Could also be I clipped it bad. But it did get worse as I smoked. Draw was great. After lighting, I just wasn t impressed. Flavor was decent, fair amount of spice and some sweet, Just overall something was lacking and it seemed bland. The cigar flavors lasted hours in my mouth and throat too, I didn t like that. Because of the lower price, I probably will pick up another one, let it sit in my humidor a while and give it another try, since it did actually did seem somewhat dry, perhaps from shipping... I m hesitant though, since I can pay a dollar or two more, even less depending on brand, and get something I know I really like.
Beautiful stick, great construction, great burn... Absolutely horrible acidic taste. It was a $4.50 cigar, but tasted like 50 cents.
