La Vieja Habana Maduro
La Vieja Habana Maduro Cigars
A well-made cigar at an honest price. La Vieja Habana cigars were the first Drew Estate cigars, debuting in 1994. Handmade with a well-balanced Cuban Sandwich blend of long & short Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, each La Vieja Habana Maduro is rolled in a dark, Brazilian Maduro wrapper. These cigars draw easily with a rich, smooth, earthy flavor, producing clouds of thick blue smoke and a sweet, inviting aroma. Try this great value cigar, and taste why La Vieja Habana is the lead horse in the Drew Estate stable.

I shared these with a couple of friends, about 3 weeks in the humidor. The first 3/4 of the stick was pretty decent, but the last 1/4 was AMAZING. I can't even describe the flavor, it was that good. I highly suggest. less

This cigar is a well balanced cigar. If you keep it in a correctly humidified humidor, it will reward you with a smooth draw and a great taste. The cigar is a little soft for those used to a firm cigar, however, I would recommend the Vieja Habana to just about anyone who is a real cigar smoker, and not just an armchair critic. less

"Excellent"
Excellent cigar. One of the BEST maduros I h... more
Excellent cigar. One of the BEST maduros I have ever smoked. Construction was good. The oily wrapper actually glistened in the sunlight. Burn was perfect, no tunneling or touchups required. The ash actually held better than some long filler cigars. Flavor was exceptional.
If I had to list a negative, it would be burn time. I didn?t notice a quick burn, but the wife commented it was less than an hour. Being a mixed filler cigar, it probably did burn a little quicker than a long filler cigar. However, I was really enjoying the cigar. I may have been pushing it. Although the cigar may have burned a little quick, it was never hot.
I have only smoke one so far, four more are patiently waiting in the humidor. If the remaining four are anything close to the first, I will definitely be bidding on a box or two. One of only a few cigars in which I would pay full retail.
If you understand the nature of this cigar, you will be pleased. While the cigar is an ?entry level? cigar from Drew Estate, it is better than every bundle cigar I have ever encountered. However, if you are looking for something to replace your $35.00 (a single) Padron 80th Anniversary Maduro Perfecto, you may be inclined to call the cigar ?junk.? less

"tongue burning junk"
Its amzing people pay over $20 a box for thes... more
Its amzing people pay over $20 a box for these cigars. The cigar itself is a short filler cigar that has very little tobacco to it, its a very soft large ring cigar which means its packed with less than half what a normal cigar this size would have., these puppies burn excessively hot and will burn your tongue easily before you finish the first. the brazillian maduro wrappers are moist and oily, though the cigar will canoe and have an array of hot spots and burning issues even when perfectly well humidified. leave these in the humi for several months, wont make much difference, they're still short filler pieces of crap packaged to look like a premium but not even a step above the crappy made bundle cigars that insure the company doesnt waste any of its grown tobacco irregardless of how crappy the cigar turns out. this is one of the worst boxed versions of a brazillian maduro, its a whole box of junk sold as if its a quality cigar, try one, you'll realize you just bought a bundled cigar in a nicely packaged box. probably the softest 54 ring gauge cigar you'll ever buy in a box. Wait ti'll you realize what a piece of junk this cigar is, try one, you'll see my review was dead on correct. less

"Short filler pretender"
These La Vieja cigars are Sandwich cigars, ve... more
These La Vieja cigars are Sandwich cigars, very soft, poor to lousy burning, decent draw, will canoe virtually every cigar. Often wonder why they bother putting this cigar in a box, its a bundle version short filler cigar, the labels are pretty and the box is deceiving as this cigar will burn hot, its gonna canoe every cigar, its very soft, very. Its a poorly made cigar that looks like it will be decent, the looks are meant to fool the buyer which it does decently well until you buy a box of this crap and realize your not smoking a classy cigar, your smoking a sandwich short filler cigar that is packaged to look like a premium cigar, its not close to a premium, dont be fooled. Its not any different than the medicore to poorly made Famous bundle cigars. less

This was my first "Cigar Monster" purchase. I didn't expect much - especially after having tried other Drew Estate cigars that - well - sucked. These beauties are actually good though! They have a good flavor from start to finish, nice burn, and look nice as well. I will be getting more boxes of these for everyday smokes. less

"still a good smoke"
This Drew line can't be beat for the price, b... more
This Drew line can't be beat for the price, but I was disipointed in the construction of the Belicoso D, kind of sloppy and full of small shreadded tobacco. It still is a good flavorful stick but the Rothchild Luxo is a much better built cigar, there is some nice tobacco stuffed in it. They may be made at different factories, just a guess. But Drew has a great $2.00 smoke here in either case. I will say it again $2.00 and you have a $5.00 stick of flavor. less
