CAO Maduro Belicoso Maduro cigars are a medium to full-bodied blend of robust Nicaraguan & Dominican tobaccos, Ecuador binder, and the darkest, oiliest, Grade-1 Connecticut broadleaf wrappers. Perfectly balanced with complex cedar, coffee, and black pepper flavors for a satisfying and memorable smoke.

This is simply the best cigar in its price range!! You name it, it has it! Beautiful construction, draw is superb, taste: rich and full. You could inhale this cigar for an hour straight and never even come close to a choke. It is SUPERB!! Love it with a cup of expresso, liquor or kool-aid. Try it, you won't be sorry.

The maduro is more to my taste than the Cameroon wrapper but both are outstanding smokes. A smooth silky taste. I like these after a great dinner at a fine restaurant and always keep a couple in my humidor for those occasions.

I don't know how I first discovered these but... more
I don't know how I first discovered these but have been smoking the Belicoso for about 2 years now. This cigar very nearly makes the 25-year search for a non-Cuban 'keeper' worthwhile. It's a big step up from the Santa Rosa Torpedo Maduro that I'd been smoking. Santa Rosa boxes turned out to be different every time: each new box was either a trick or treat. The CAOs seem respectfully manufactured. Except for one box which had floppy tips, the cigars have been excellent in their construction. The use of a cello wrap is recent. Although the cellophane dampens the visual effect upon cracking a box, it does wonders for the overall health of the cigar. My Belicosos now seem even more rich. The wrapper has a wonderful feel and exudes a nice oil. The cello seems to make a hint of raisin available in the cigar, something that was absent pre-cello. This however dissipates soon after the initial lighting.
The Belicoso is a smoke that is rich and strong at the same time. The smoke is meaty without being harsh or coarse. It offers a consistent taste up to the bitter end without getting sloppy. You have to watch the burn to ensure eveness. The wrapper seems fragile at times: do not stick it out the window of your car to knock off ash while driving if you want to preserve the integrity of the wrapper. Speaking of cigars and cars, the Belicoso is tough enough to sit by itself in a car for a two day smoke - nothing will dry it out. The Belicoso ash could be nicer, but I guess one doesn't smoke the ash ....Famous Smoke makes it even easier to enjoy the Belicoso with their superior attentiveness to customer treatment.

"My new reference maduro "
I haven't been smoking for all that long but ... more
I haven't been smoking for all that long but I have tried a lot of different sticks and am constantly narrowing it down to what I really, truly crave in a smoke. This cigar is it. It's the smoothest, creamiest smoke I've ever had. It's one of those smokes that proves there's a distinct difference between shear strength and fullness of flavor; there's lots of wonderful taste and not a single shred of harshness all the way down to the nub. The burn and draw are just about perfect, and it can handle being put down for minutes at a time. Plus, it's just plain gorgeous to look at and to smoke. In the desert island scenario where you could only have one of this, one of that, this would be the cigar I'd choose.

After the CAO Cameroon, (which was smooth but bland) the Maduro was a wonderful surprise! I agree with other reviewers: exceptionally flavorful, sweet and spicy but without a hint of harshness. Rich and smooth right down past the label. I was left with nothing but a great taste and thoughts of my next CAO Maduro.

I have to agree with Bob. After the bland cameroon, I was a little wary, but this is a great smoke. The volume of smoke is great, the ash is white and tight, and the draw is effortless. This cigar is rich from start to finish.

This a wonderful cigar, but not for the novice smoker who is looking for a "nice" cigar. It is bold, extremely full bodied and aggressive. The construction was superb as was the draw and the ash was a thing of beauty. If you want an in your face Maduro, this is the one. I loved it!

"A Favorite in my Humidor "

I have smoked many of these cigars and have found just about every one of them to be a very nice smoke with a consistent draw and flavor. Each stick has produced large amounts of smoke and a medium to full body. There burn consistency has been fair with some unevenness for the first third but then grows more even down the stick. Its flavor renders rich dark chocolate when drawn cool and a slightly bitter espresso when drawn hot. I have had a few of these in my humidor for over a year and they get smother and more chocolaty with age. Age will take away from some bitterness. A Belicoso will take about an hour to smoke with no relights. A very enjoyable smoke if you give it time.
