I have smoked Onyx cigars before, after tryin... moreI have smoked Onyx cigars before, after trying them at numerous 'Big Smokes'. After seeing the high rating(s) in Cigar Afficionado, and the high ratings on this website, my buddy and I went in on a box together. Upon unwrapping the cigar, I smelled manure. I thought it was quite strange, but my buddy confirmed the same thing. Not too far into the cigar, I had the most significant 'buzz' I've ever had; I felt like I just drank 4 or 5 shots of Yukon Jack. I proceeded through the cigar, and thought I was going to be sick the rest of the night. I was literally spinning. I smoked another one a couple of weeks later and had the same experience. However, this time I only smoked half of it at a time, so I didn't feel quite so sick.
Regardless, I think people are rating this cigar with a "pack mentality" That is, they are rating it highly only because everyone else is. I for one, can not give this cigar a high rating.

This is by far the best cigar I've had in rec... moreThis is by far the best cigar I've had in recent memory. Perfect draw, taste, aroma, and burn. No, I did not get high, nor sick, while smoking this well made cigar. (How do you get high if you don't inhale?) The ratings on this cigar were right on the money. Inexperienced smokers should probably reserve their opinions about this marvelous smoke. Don't like it, then don't buy it...just more for me!

I previously wrote a review, prior to reading... moreI previously wrote a review, prior to reading other reviews.~~ If I could suggest something to cigar smokers who have difficulty with the draw on Onyx~~ Use a draw poker, this is the answer to the problem. I prefer the tight wrap as this is part of the cigars character. You can make or buy a draw poker. A 9.5 0n my list!

Onyx Reserve #4 has become by far my favorite... moreOnyx Reserve #4 has become by far my favorite smoke. At less than $3 a stick you will not find a better value. Very dark with an oily feel and an absolutely wonderful smell before you even fire it up ... it is a excellent cigar for anyone who wants a medium-to-strong and very tasty maduro smoke. In more than 3 dozen cigars to date, I have only found one that did not draw perfectly with a taste that lasts virtually down to the last inch. Honestly ... if you enjoy a maduro cigar you have got to try this smoke.
