This is the first time buying this cigar and i was pleasantly surprised. .
Good price good taste!
These are exactly what they are supposed to be. A long time ago in an age of simpler times a wise man told me a story. He said, son let me tell you the entire purpose of Ct. wrapper. I said okay Edgar, tell me. He continued...you see son we grow a wide variety of filler tobaccos. They range from sweet and mild all the way to strong and hefty. We also grow leaf specially used for the binder. Once we harvest that leaf, we cure it in old barns that we keep warm. This allows the leaves to begin the the process of oxidatin and the degradation of carotenoids in the leaves. By the time he finished I was fast asleep. I think I missed some good info that day.Anyway, on to the FSS NIC 4000, spun by Senor Abdel Fernandez. This cigar with its Ct wrapper allows all the flavors and nuances that AJ is famous for getting from his leaf by his very precise method of fermenting the leaf. No one on earth does that better or more precisely than AJ. He then takes all the various leaf and comes up with some insanely tasty cigar blends. One thing you ll always get from an AJ blend is a cigar with true character and loads of flavor. This one, with the very neutral Ct. wrapper allows all those filler tobacco flavors to shine with no disruption from a strongly flavored wrapper leaf. I bought a few bundles of these just for giggles. I m an admitted AJ fan boy and have smoked literally 20,000 cigars that he blended and that were made in his factory. Many include leaf that he grew on one of his farms. Seeing that he s Nestor s cousin or some such thing, he has access to not only his own great leaf but that which is grown by mega grower Nestor. This cigar took me completely by surprise. I read a small portion of the reviews here before writing my own. Some called this cigar very mild and bland. Yeah, if you don t retrohale at least a decent portion of the cigar I can totally see that. However, I retrohale every puff and have for 35 years. My sinuses are unhappy at times, but hey, you only live once, correct? Anyway, these 4000 s are a solid medium to slightly more with plenty of peppery Nicaraguan flavor oozing from the filler. Now I know my AJ cigars better than any. This cigar reminds me very much of his beautiful Man O War Virtue. Not exactly the same as I find these a bit more stout with just the perfect amount of spicy goodness. They re really well made, burn super straight, and leave a nice pretty solid ash behind. I see FSS only has 2 sizes in stock, so I wonder if these are being phased out. just in case, I picked up 5 more bundles tonight. This type of quality at this price is unheard of in these heady times in the world of cigars. All these retail stores with their 10 and 20 dollar cigars are amazing. However, my wallet disagrees with that type off pricing. My wallet loves the type of pricing on the 4000 s much better. I thank Arthur and Team famous for bringing us poors solidly great cigars at remarkable prices. It doesn t take a genius to go out and drop 20 bucks on a cigar and be blown away at how tasty it is. It does however require a few yeah I ll take a shot on these cheapos to find out where the true value is for your cigar dollar.Granted if you pull one of these out at the country club and offer it to J. Sterling VanHoward III, he may smack you and laugh you out of the club. You ll leave in your KIA with your tail between your legs, but at the end of the day, you will have enjoyed a truly good cigar for 2 dollars and fifty. So to sum it up, I love these and I m super happy I decided to take a shot. A lot of cheaper bundled cigars are truly garbage these days. This one is a superstar hiding in the cheap section. Happy trails herfers, I m out.
Well rolled; consistent flavor; reasonable strength. Great everyday smoke.
good
I am not a Connecticut shade smoker - I like medium to full cigars - usually Habano wrapper. I read that AJ makes these cigars for Famous and knew it would have some spice. I would put this up against ANY Con Shade cigar regardless of price. Why spend $10, $15 on cigars anymore? All Famous Nic cigars are excellent!! Best cigars for the money hands down - I have had them all.
...I m not even that big of a fan of Connecticut leaf but this guy is a perfect morning go-to. Not quite on par with the 6k but i do think I ll grab these again soon. I d rate 4.5/5 but since i can t I ll round up. It deserves it...

Still one of the best everyday smokes around for the dough.
