Te-Amo cigars represent a fine tradition of tobacco growing and cigar manufacturing that dates back to the 19th century in Mexico's fertile San Andrés Valley. Located southeast of Veracruz, the valley was, and still is, famous for its top-grade tobacco through the use of growing harvesting, and curing practices brought to the land by migrant workers from Cuba and Europe.
Enter Alberto Turrent, a Spanish native who came to Mexico in 1880 and settled in the Valley. Finding the soil and weather of the region perfect for growing tobacco, Turrent dedicated himself to planting and harvesting black tobacco, and later, to manufacturing cigars.
Five generations later, in 1963 the company began making Te-Amo cigars. The following year Tabacalera Alberto Turrent began exporting their handmade cigars to the United States, and today Te Amo is sold in 29 countries, making it the company's leading cigar brand.
If you've ever visited a major U.S. metropolitan city, especially New York City, you've no doubt seen the famous Te-Amo Cigars signs hanging above or in the window of practically every cigar store and tobacco shop. After the brand was introduced it quickly became a favorite among working-class cigar smokers for its expert craftsmanship, mild flavor, and affordable price. Today, the cigars are still blended with all Mexican San Andrés-grown tobaccos rolled in a silky natural wrapper that originated from Sumatra seeds. The cigars are all aged 2½ years before packaging, offering you a very satisfying mild to medium-bodied smoke with a primarily woodsy and sweet-spicy flavor.
Times change, and so do consumers. In recent years, the move to bigger, full-flavored cigars presented cigar smokers the opportunity to rediscover the Te Amo brand with its release of Revolution Te-Amo cigars. Created to provide a rich, flavorful, and fuller-bodied cigar, Revolution uses Mexican San Andrés Negro and Corojo long-fillers, plus Nicaraguan leaf for extra body, and rolls it to a unique oval shape in a San Andres Negro wrapper. The smoke offers a big helping of Te-Amo's trademark earthy-woodsy flavor profile with notes of sweet tobacco, cedar, and spice. Presented with eye-catching boxes and cigar bands often seen on boutique cigars, Revolution Te Amo is aimed at the new generation of cigar smokers who want a well-made, robust cigar at a sensible price." ... more
