With the weather turning especially nice these last few days, we’ve got tips to get even more enjoyment out of cigar season. All three questions were submitted by everyday cigar smokers like you: the careful way to remove a cigar band, keeping an even burn while you smoke outside, and comparing torch lighters with soft flame cigar lighters.

This month’s question comes from Kris in Surprise, AZ. He writes, “When I’m outside, my cigar keeps burning all crazy. Up one side, then the other. I can’t figure out how to keep it straight. What am I doing wrong?” Kris, your question is about a problem likely affecting most smokers these days. With cigar stores and lounges largely closed, most smokers have taken to smoking at home – usually outside – with summer right around the corner. The good news is your burn going awry (often from canoeing) probably isn’t your fault when it’s happening outdoors. The better news is that it’s super easy to fix. Since removing a cigar band is something cigar smokers do almost subliminally, there’s really no “traditional” method.
