With Father’s Day just around the corner and new cigars on my desk, I’m reminded of going to the tobacco shop with my dad as a kid. Back when such a thing was allowed. I’d watch him pace the aisles, rolling some hopeful blends between his fingers. He’d bring to his nose the few that caught his eye, before taking them—and a fresh tin of pipe tobacco—to the register. He only smoked a few cigars a year on vacations or holidays. But I looked forward to those trips. Secretly, because I loved the smell. Premium tobacco’s aroma is undeniably warm and pleasant. Even unlit.

I’ll be heading back to the store soon to pick up some fresh sticks for my dad to enjoy on Father’s Day and I’m sharing my picks with you. Just don’t tell him what I got him, okay?

Crowned Heads keeps turning heads. And as long as they do, I’m gonna keep smoking ‘em. Among my top draws, Le Careme. A blend that has masterfully smoked with a sweet-n-salty appeal since its initial release. This year’s release is a little different in the vitola department, measuring a short and portly 4” x 54. It’s a little misleading to your eyes because it still lasts the better part of 60-to-90 minutes. Depending on your smoking speed, of course. Immerse yourself in its flavors of cocoa, salted peanuts, coffee beans, and a dusting of vanilla. If its medium-bodied, aromatic smoke doesn’t do it for ya, have someone check you for a pulse.

If his style consists of New Balance sneakers and a t-shirt that probably shouldn’t be tucked into jean shorts, your father likely epitomizes the Dad Bod flair. And now he can have cigars to match. Punch’s Dad Bod limited release is here just in time for Father’s Day. And the packaging is as kitschy as the one-liners your Pops has been parroting the past 40 years. The cigars come packaged in a collectible and resealable can and are ridiculously styled with necktie bands. And though they’re campy looking, they also boast some serious points in the flavor department. Expect a lightly sweet, full-bodied medley of leather, earth, caramel, and almonds. He’ll love it.
