La Aurora Preferido 1903 Double Barrel Aged Tubo

Some cigars come back; the La Aurora Preferidos 1903 Double Barrel Aged came back better. 

After having discontinued the original Double Barrel Aged in 2019, the blending team at La Aurora just couldn’t let this Preferido go. They quietly went back to work rethinking the blend, knowing that when the time and the tobaccos were right, it would be ready to make its comeback. And now, all these years later, La Aurora has finally made the call: it’s ready.

The Brazilian tobaccos are gone, replaced with Pennsylvania Broadleaf binder and Pennsylvania-grown long fillers. La Aurora then layers in Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers to round out the core; finished in a lustrous Ecuador Habano wrapper, it works to create a full-bodied profile laden with spice, earth, and natural sweetness.

Before rolling, select tobaccos are rested in barrels that once held E. León Jimenes rum. Not to soak in flavor—but to absorb the environment. After rolling, the cigars go right back into those barrels for a second round of aging, which allows the most sought-after nuances to emerge: toasted oak, baking spice, and a faint molasses-like sweetness. 

In true La Aurora Preferidos fashion, the 1903 Double Barrel Aged is presented in an extremely limited quantity of 5 x 54 Double Perfectos, and each cigar is protected in a brown aluminum tubo built for travel, aging, or just keeping your singles in perfect condition. 

There are many barrel-aged cigars out there, but this one from La Aurora stands apart in a sea of lookalike blends. Lock in a few now—because once these are gone, you’re back to waiting on La Aurora to decide when (or if) they do it again.
