Pledge By EP Carrillo Prequel
MSRP
EPC does is again! Named 2020 #1 Cigar of the Year, Pledge Prequel cigars is actually the follow-up to Ernesto's last #1 smoke, the Encore, chosen in 2018. So what's his secret to nabbing TWO #1s in such short order? By going the extra mile, and then some, as Carrillo did. It wasn’t enough to toil on just one blend for Pledge - he actually started with six high quality blends, but still culling the group stick by stick until his personal best-of-the-best remained. "Is this cigar worthy to follow La Historia and Encore?” Ernesto asked himself. And yes, he found "the one" with Prequel, earning Aficionado's top honor. Nicaraguan fillers are paired with a binder from Ecuador, then rolled in a hand-picked Connecticut-seed Habano - we tasted a savory sweetness from thick, creamy smoke, along with pepper and spice on the finish. Frankly, this would have been a 'must buy' even if it didn't win Cigar of the Year - but the award proves it. Order your box today!

This cigar is good to the nub and only gets better as you smoke it. I have nothing but good things to say about this excellant cigar.

My favorite cigar

A terrific smoke. The flavors consisted of black coffee, black cherry, licorice and wood. The burn is razor sharp, and the draw is perfect...no touchups needed on this beauty.

The EPC Pledge began tasty and aromatic from the very first draw. I am not annoyed at all that it is 2020s cigar of the year. I m glad I nabbed a couple of five packs the day before it went on backorder!

I bought a 10-box, and the first cigar I smoked had loosely packed filler in a way that actually made the cigar too hot to hold and created hotspots on the inhale. I ve had 2 since and they are better but still leaving me perplexed as to why this was Cigar of the Year. It s a quasi-box-pressed presentation, a bit on the diminutive side and the fast-burn results in a 30 minute experience. Hand-made cigars will have some unit by unit variation and I hope my remaining 7 sticks show the quality I had read about.
