There’s more than one way to age tobacco and the proof is in these Macanudo Inspirado Tercio-Aged cigars. Offered in two sizes, Toro and Churchill, the medium-bodied line employs an old world method of aging that imbues the tobaccos with more refinement and complexity.
Tercio aging is more laborious but the results are worth it. Here’s how it’s applied in this case: The blend’s Dominican Piloto Cubano filler leaves are aged for six months in tercios, or bales made from royal palm tree bark. This rounds out the tobacco delivering deeper flavor nuances and a more alluring aroma.
After the tercio aging is complete Colombian leaf is added to the Piloto Cubano, the fillers are bunched in an Indonesian binder and completed with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper. Once lit, a rich and creamy smoke emerges. Earthy, sweet, woody, and floral notes ensue on a tangy, white pepper finish.
