After their new Nicaraguan factory opened in 2022, Villiger got the idea of creating a Nicaraguan version of their classic Villiger 1888 cigars. (1888 is the year Villiger christened their first factory.) First released to the German and Swiss markets, by the summer of 2023 the Villiger Nicaragua 1888 was on its way to the U.S.

Villiger Nicaragua 1888 is a three format line that rolls Nicaraguan binder bunched with fillers from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania inside a neatly cured & aged Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The medium-plus smoke issues a cool and luscious smoke with subtle notes of leather and pepper including impressions of roasted nuts, mocha, and a sweet caramel finish. Presented in elegant blue boxes of 20 cigars, this Nicaraguan-forward blend has not only reinvented the Villiger 1888, it’s done so at a very reasonable price.
