Asylum Cigars represent the next step in the tobacco journey of Christian Eiroa and Tom Lazuka, launching in 2012 what has become a shift in the boutique cigar world: dynamic flavors, intricate craftsmanship and, in the case of Asylum Ogre, big ring gauge cigars – all in an affordable package.
Christian Eiroa made his mark on the industry with the success of his family’s highly regarded and rated Camacho cigars…and once he sold the company, it didn’t take long for Eiroa to hook up with the founders of Asylum cigars, Tom Lazuka and Kevin Baxter. Asylum was brought into Christian’s Tabacaleras Unidas family, and immediately began to roll out flavorful cigars that Lazuka calls “full-body, high-palate-impact.”
To start, Asylum Cigars introduced three very diverse lines: Asylum, Asylum 13 and Schizo – and all feature fine Nicaraguan tobacco. And since then, Asylum has added to their portfolio with a handful of more medium body selections.
The Premium Asylum cigars are a medium-full smoke rolled with fine Nicaraguan tobacco reserves – a true boutique premium cigar. For those that prefer a darker wrapper on their puro, the all-Nicaraguan Asylum 13 delivers aged Cuban seed tobaccos and medium-plus strength and body. Within the line, the Asylum 13 Ogre – a Candela-Habano barberpole cigar, offered in huge ring gauges – makes for a complex smoke.
If you like mild smokes, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the Asylum Cigar experience: many buy Asylum Insidious cigars for the mild, more traditional sizes, as well as the traditional sweetened cap featured on each stick. The Insidious introduces Honduran tobaccos to the mix, and makes for an affordable premium that’s enjoyable any time of day – and by a smoker who prefers any strength of a cigar. Conversely, Eiroa & Lazuka heap on the Ligero fillers in their Asylum Straight Jacket cigars – making for a heavy yet creamy cigar that packs a powerful, full bodied punch.
No doubt Asylum cigars are intense – but with many to choose from, find the right one for you and buy it for less at Famous Smoke Shop!... more
