A Symbolic Journey Inspired by The Ark of the Covenant

ELLINGTON, CT – Foundation Cigar Company proudly presents AKSUM cigars. Formerly known as Metapa, Aksum is inspired by the resting place of The Ark of the Covenant. Foundation also assures the re-branded line will continue to deliver the same exceptional flavor profile that the Metapa selection introduced when it was released last October.

Named after the ancient city of Aksum, a place steeped in history and legend, this brand embodies the essence of Foundation Cigar Company’s commitment to tradition and innovation. The decision to re-brand also reflects a deeper connection to the brand’s inspiration: The Ark of the Covenant and its symbolic journey.

“Aksum represents a significant chapter in our journey, paying homage to the sacred history associated with The Ark of the Covenant,” said Foundation Cigar Co. founder and master blender, Nick Melillo. “The blend remains the same as Metapa and as a testament to our unwavering dedication to providing a unique and memorable smoking experience.”

The image on the Aksum box and band of is that of Haile Selassie’s Father, Ras Makonnen, a former governor of Aksum. Makonnen is also regarded as one of the great leaders of Abyssinia and a confidant to Emperor Menelik II.
