Las Calaveras 2018 cigars are the 5th installment of this annual bestseller from Crowned Heads Cigars. For this version, John Huber and Mike Conder decided to connect even more closely with Mexico's Dias de las Muertas by going with a dark, glossy Mexican San Andrés wrapper collared by a vivid green band which is representative of the bright colors seen during the celebration. (According to Jon and Mike, the color was also inspired by an old Cuban Ramon Allones box.)
Made in limited edition at the My Father factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, at the core of the Las Calaveras 2018 is a blend of Nicaraguan tobaccos. The San Andrés wrapper offers a pleasant aroma of sweet spice, and once lit, the smoke begins with a peppery smack, transitioning to notes of sweet spice, almonds, and cedar, along with some earthiness and floral notes.
The Las Calaveras 2018 selection is presented in three sizes: LC46 (Corona Extra), LC50 (Robusto) and LC54 (Toro). However, if you want to dive into the whole lot in one fell swoop, there's the sensibly-priced Las Calaveras 2018 sampler which also includes a Las Calaveras Le 2018 Robusto Extra (5½" x 56).
If you're already a fan of the Las Calaveras releases, we need say no more. On the other hand, if you haven't had the pleasure of these highly-acclaimed releases, the 2018 is one of the best editions to-date. Add some to your cart now, as they will not remain on our shelves very long.
